# 15 - East Moultrie Flats

Hike atop a flat and fast, well-maintained
water impoundment with gorgeous views of
east Lake Moultrie. This adventure has
miles blooming aquatic plants in the warmer
months, a guarantee to see large birds
(egrets, herons, osprey and bald eagle are
-common sights!), and impressive panoramic
views of the lake. Bonus: at the end / turn-
around point, there are restrooms and
shaded areas with picnic tables! This hike
-is 4 miles of the Palmetto Trail's scenic
-Lake Moultrie Passage.

Stroller Friendly: Yes; with large-wheeled, all terrain strollers.
Trail Marker: Signs on vertical posts for the Palmetto Trail. This trail is very easy to follow.

Crowds: Light; however, this route is popular with the locals from Bonneau. You'll probably see others.

Restrooms: Yes. Located at the end/turn-around point of the hike at the Amos Lee Gourdine
Boat Ramp.
Precautions: There is no protection from the sun on the dike. A wide brim hat and sunscreen are
recommended. Biting insects can be formidable in warmer months. Bring insect repellent.
