# 12 - Kids Gravel 6K Ride!
Rated: Easy & Family Friendly
-4.0 miles, loop, round-trip
Ride the state's first (and only!) gravel and
dirt bike route designed with kids and families
in mind. You'll pass through a variety of Frances
Marion National Forest habitats, including long
leaf pine forests and tall grass savannas, cross
over creeks, and see beautiful small swamps
-with always fun cypress knees! Take your
time to look around; parents and kids will find
this easy adventure intriguing and fun. This
-ride is extra safe - there's a good chance
-you won't encounter a single vehicle.
Difficulty: Easy and family friendly.
Distance: 4 miles.
Time: Plan about an hour for this fun ride!
Trail Surface: Dirt, gravel, forest service roads.
Trail Marker: All roads are signed and easy to follow. You'll see signs for "167," "Burned Cane Rd.," and
markers for the Jericho Horse Trail.
Bike Type: Any kids bike will work. "Gravel," hybrid or trail/mountain style bikes with tires over 40c.
"Knobby" bike tires are recommended, but not required for this ride.
Crowds: None. You likely won't see anyone else or even a single vehicle.
Fees/Permits: None.
Restrooms: None.
Precautions: Biting insects can be formidable in the warmer months. IMPORTANT: Bikers must yield
to horseback riders. Step off the road and stop!
It's advised to wear "hunter's orange" or other bright colored clothing during hunting season.
Where to Park: Park on the wide shoulder near the intersection of Conifer Rd. and Burned Cane Rd. A.,
Huger, SC 29450. It's probably best to use the GPS coordinates. GPS: 33.129084, -79.756708 or 33°07'44.7"N 79°45'24.2"W.
NOTE: These roads are well maintained, appropriate for any vehicle type, but be aware of a few large potholes.
