# 1 - Tour de Daniel Island

5.0 mile fun route but
exploration is encouraged
Officially in Berkeley County, but part of the
City of Charleston, the planned community
of Daniel Island is surrounded by rivers, creeks
and stunning marsh views. This bicycle route
will take you along the Daniel Island Trail,
visit several parks, a treehouse, and along
neighborhood streets with wide bike lanes.
This is an easy, relaxing ride for the entire
family and packs a lot in its short distance.
Difficulty: Easy.
Distance: 5.0 miles of route, but exploration and a variety of distances are possible. Have fun exploring the island by bike!
Time: Allow 2 hours to enjoy everything this ride has to offer.
Surface: Mostly asphalt trail and roads, with a mix of hard pack dirt/gravel trail.
Bike Type: Any bike type will work. Because of pedestrian and other bicycle traffic along the Daniel Island Trail
and bike lanes, a bicycle bell is highly recommended.
Crowds: Moderate. On the weekends, children and families are out enjoying the island.
Fees/Permits: None.
Restrooms: Sometimes the restrooms at the ballpark are open. Gas stations nearby with restrooms.
Precautions: There is vehicle traffic, however, it is slow moving and the locals are used to seeing lots of cyclists
and families out and about.
Parking: Governor's Park, 165 Fairbanks Oak Alley, Daniel Island, SC 29492. There is also parking for Governor's Park off Seven Farms Drive.
